Functions of Secretary
(1) The Secretary has the following functions— (a) to investigate and carry out research into matters relating to or affecting tenancies of residential premises or landlords or tenants, (b) to investigate suspected contraventions of this Act or the regulations, (c) to prosecute any offence under this Act or the regulations, (d) to take other appropriate action to enforce this Act or the regulations, (e) to investigate and report on any matters, or make inquiries into any matters, referred to the Secretary by the Minister or the Tribunal in connection with this Act or the regulations, (f) to distribute information (in English or any other language) to the public about this Act, tenancies, residential tenancy agreements and services provided under this Act by the Tribunal and other persons, (f1) to assist tenants and landlords and persons acting on their behalf to resolve complaints or disputes as the Secretary considers appropriate, (g) any other function conferred or imposed by or under this Act on the Secretary. (2) The Secretary may delegate to a person any of the Secretary’s functions under this Act, other than this power of delegation.
